About

This Perfect World

Some of my writings are little more than ramblings – although rarely without purpose. Sometimes I like to follow rabbit trails as I share my thoughts – so I should warn you, you may find yourself lost at times wondering how that path led you where you are and if it is possible to find your way back. You may find you can’t even remember where we started, but we always wind up somewhere – and usually right where we are supposed to be. And for me, where we are supposed to be is always checking out where our perspectives are taking us – and hopefully where they came from – so we’ll know if we really want to keep them around.

I’ve been reading up on what makes a great blog, and it seems the consensus is to define your blog and keep to the point. I’m afraid this is not likely to become a great blog. Narrow is not my strong point. Life is big and bold and my vision fills the horizon and beyond. So you are likely to find a bit of this and a bit of that and who knows what else thrown in for good measure.

I am a student of life and I love exploring and wandering. So, if you care to join in, we will mostly explore this thing I call a-MAZE-ing grace. And it will definitely feel like a maze. Some paths might lead us to nowhere in particular. Some paths might make us turn back and start again. Some paths might continue for days at a time. But I hope every path graces you with a gift, a treasure just for you! And I hope that treasure includes hearing the voice of God. I know He longs to shower you with His love and pour out His very Presence in your life, just as He has in mine. Tally-ho! Here we go!

About me

I’ve always hated having to write a bio about me! What do I say? What do I choose to leave out? How do I say enough to give others an idea of who I am without sounding egotistical? I just don’t know.

But I need to write something, so here’s what you get for now. I grew up in the Deep South and I love my Southern heritage. However, my Dad was a mid-westerner, my favorite Aunt loved our English heritage, and I’ve had dear friends from all over the world; so I have traces of other cultures deeply ingrained as well. I am complex, yet very simple. I have one primary goal in life ~ to please my Father in Heaven. Learning to live that out in the everydayness of life can sometimes be a challenge.

I’m a mom. I gave birth to six amazing kids – all growing up way too fast. And each is as different from the other as is humanly possible. And yet, they are truly siblings in every way. Not only am I a mom – I love being a mom. So much so, that I joyfully adopt my chosen kids with the same intensity and nurturing as I have for my birth kids.

Relationships always come with ups and downs, the key is to choose to always be heading closer to God together. He liberally pours out the glue that sticks for always. Humor is a big part of that glue – so I choose to see the funny side of life’s circumstances and challenges – especially in my self.

And now I am grad student. I finally found a program that’s a fit. I’m in the Counseling Psychology program at The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology – in Seattle. Quite the commute – but finding it so very much worth the effort. A challenge in every way possible. Feel free to ask me about it – I love to share what I’m learning!

I am surrounded by amazing people ~ family, chosen family, friends, colleagues, neighbors. Humanity is messy and beautiful. Figuring it all out requires wisdom from on high. We have a Creator who loves to pour out His wisdom. All we have to do is ask and listen. He always answers! Just not always as we expect – so we must stay on the alert to His surprises.

Well, enough for now. Perhaps I will add more later. Perhaps the most important parts of who I am will be revealed as I write. I hope you will continue reading and responding. I love to share and to hear from you.

  3. Hi Lauree, nice to meet you. What do you think your strongest character is in counseling others and why? How would you handle someone who does not believe in God?

Nice to meet you, too, Shenine. Thanks for the question! I would say that the strength I bring into any relationship is my fervent desire and commitment to see the face of God in each person He brings across my path. That is true and is becoming more true as I learn to see myself with more of God’s truth and less of the enemy’s lies and distortions. I am also learning the importance of seeing the whole picture of who others are, to accept them right where they are, speak truth in love into their lives, and to trust the work of the Spirit on their behalf, just as I do in my own life.

I am so grateful for the grace of God poured out moment by moment and His promise to complete the work He began in me! He is worthy of my trust and my praise!

  4. Thank you for placing God first and letting Him be the authorative figure and being the voice to others through you! Blessings on your Journey with Christ. I would like to add you to the blogroll of Christian Comfort & Conversation Cafe. Yes, we are to love, accept and forgive others as Christ does for us each and everyday. You are invited to stop by and sip on a cup of Christ and share a muffin of love with me and others in our walk with Christ.
