“That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death: if by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.” Philippians 3:10-11

“if by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead”

Have you, like me, ever thought that this attaining Paul spoke of was limited to heaven, the resurrection we would experience after our own deaths?

Paul’s plea and focus here has much more to do with this life than with our lives in heaven. Think about it, do you really think we are going to have to put effort into our holiness once we are face-to-face with God our Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit? Do you really think we will struggle with sin and rebellion once we are in His Presence?

No!!! Our perfection and holiness will be fully experienced then.

But, now, here, today, in this life – we can know His power – the power poured out for all believers through the releasing of the Holy Spirit in us – because of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead. God has put His holiness within us. He has put His righteousness right into our hearts. He has perfected us in His Son, and we can only know that perfection through receiving it by faith alone. This is the amazing grace we sing and speak of, so easily at times without taking into account what it really means – to us and to God.

Do you get it? Do you realize that every time we choose sin over righteousness, we are slandering the gift of the Spirit within us, for He is ready to pour out the power to think and choose differently? Every time we turn away from expressing the love of God in our interactions with others, and with ourselves, we are slandering the gift of the Spirit, for we are refusing to allow Him to produce His fruit in us.

Please understand, these are not words of condemnation – for God Himself does not come to us with condemnation. They are words of invitation to rethink our faith, to reevaluate what we truly believe. The proof of what we truly believe is not in the words we can speak (or how well we can deceive ourselves and others by not examining the fruit of our lives), the proof of what we truly believe comes through the witness of  the Spirit and our freedom to truly glorify God in all things in our lives, which we will experience only when He is given free reign in us to do the Father’s bidding!

Jesus is calling His Bride to prepare herself for our coming wedding day. The only way we can be prepared is through faith, receiving our preparation – our wedding garments, our hearts of purity, our love for the Bridegroom, all of it is a gift of grace!

Will you receive His gift of grace today for your specific needs in your specific circumstances?

He is waiting to release the fullness of the power of Jesus’ resurrected life to you!
